In recent years, University of Michigan's Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning have invited successful alumni to lead career-focused discussions with current students. This past October, John Myefski, President + Principal of Myefski Architects, was a featured speaker.
Titled "For-Profit Architecture :: A Unique Way to Cultivate Business Growth," Myefski's presentation explained how the firm's involvement in design competitions enhances the level of creativity and ingenuity, ultimately resulting in the improvement and refinement of the MA team's skill set.
"It's always fun to visit my alma mater - the faculty, staff, and students are always extremely welcoming - we had a great turnout," said Myefski. "Explaining how conceptual design exercises, like competitions, can positively affect the firm on multiple levels generated a great amount of enthusiasm as well as a lively discussion."
