The International Design Awards (IDA) recognize and celebrate smart and sustainable multidisciplinary design, promoting legendary design visionaries as well as emerging talent. Chosen among hundreds of impressive submissions, Myefski Architects’ design of the Royal Danish Theatre was selected as the winner of the Conceptual Architecture category, receiving the ‘Gold’ designation.
“The team thoroughly enjoyed designing the Royal Theatre,” said John Myefski, President + Principal of Myefski Architects. “It really exemplifies the ample amount of creative talent that our firm has to offer – we’re elated the design is receiving much-deserved international recognition.”
MA's award-winning design of the Royal Theatre is in the heart of Copenhagen – surrounded by sea, it seamlessly integrates elements of land and water. The building impressionistically extends along the pier, floating like a vessel at berth. The structure horizontally and vertically connects visitors with many indoor and outdoor programs of the building while offering grand views of the harbor and beyond.
